I don't think a first snow is realistically good weather to wear canvas vans. That is absurd, I live in Boston and its a great way to ruin your vans and get really cold feet.

I agree with you. I wore them during the day after at which point the snow was plowed off the streets and sidewalks. Made it much easier to wear Vans.

Also, Ryan Plett, of [you_have_broke_the_internet] fame, introduced me to waxing Vans so I might use Filson waterproofing wax to get them a little more rain/snow proof. I will nevertheless have to avoid the ankle deep puddles.
